Caucasian mountains
"As soon as I got into the mountains, I somehow got new life and a heavy burden was taken from me."
Carl von Linne, year 1732
Elbrus is the highest and most famous mountain in Caucasus. I've been there two times in the summer 2003 and 2004.
This photo gallery include pictures which were taken being at a wide area surrounding Elbrus.
You can see here very beautiful Caucasian mountains that are located near
the Georgia border. The glacier surrounding Elbrus is worth a visit.
In 2004 I did the largest and most famous hiking trail in Caucasus, it runs from Maykop in the west to Sochi in the east and ends at the Black Sea shore.
This is very nice and easy hiking trail that sadly often is overcrowded during the high summer season.
Enjoy the pictures I made during this trip.
