I have a great breadth of skills, but what I love most and what I'm best at is content strategy and management for digital media projects, ie. Web, software, and CD-ROM.

What is content management you say? Well, I guess it's best to give an example. Let's say you're developing a Web site. A really big Web site. One that will contain a lot of content. At least that's what you think. That's where content strategy and management come in.

As a content strategist and manager, I've been responsible for developing content strategies (what kind of "stuff" do we put on this site to achieve our objectives and extend the brand, how will it be organized, what's the tone of the content, etc.), developing and managing content development schedules and deliverable inventories, working with other sites for advertising purposes as well as promoting purposes, and create optimized content, and even rolling up my sleeves and doing a great deal of the production work myself.

So, this begs the question: What do I consider content? Well, to me content is everything the user sees and interacts with besides the navigation/site framework design. Content can be text, images, and animations. It can be data such as product information on an e-commerce site. Content can be help text, user feedback text, and error messaging. It can even be functional--like calculators and interactive questionnaires. Content can be created by Web site developers, or it can be created by site users., content is IT. It means EVERYTHING to the success of a Web site.

So where and for whom have I done this sort of work? Well, it all started at a little company you may have heard of: SDC (System Decision Company). At the tender age of 26, I embarked on my career in content at the now-defunct online service called MAXIsystem!

After a six-month stint as an intern in MAXIsystem content services department, I moved on to resource. I was quite happy when I landed my first "real" job as the company's Web site managing editor. Once resource's Web site was tamed, and I built all site's content for the company, I moved on to bigger fish: new project vmt.ru! It was a big online shop. I developed design of the site, it's content system, all texts and pictures.

But all this didn't satisfy my craving for innovation. In December of 2001, I moved to another part of Moscow and began to work for a start-up. At SendFlowers.ru, I managed and participated in the development of site's content. I loved what I was doing. However, in a little more than a year's time, things came to a grinding halt, and I found myself out of a job like many of those in the high-tech sector.

After SendFlowers.ru, I was fortunate to land a few fruitful contract/freelance opportunities to keep me busy and challenged. I architected, designed, and developed Web sites for small businesses; I helped make life easier for club of swimmers; I had the opportunity to develop a content strategy, content migration plan for Massage Center, I helped a travel company to make their site more popular among Internet users, and finally now I am working for the Industrial Computer System Company (ICOS), which presents itself in the Internet by 3 Web-sites: ipc2U.ru, icos.ru, ICN.ru. All my work as a work of content manager based at the Lotus Nites System. I want all these sites to optimize and promote them.

So, that brings us full circle. I'm currently looking for challenging work abroad opportunities. If you're reading this, I'm hoping you're interested in my services.

So, it seems that I'm really passionate about good Web content. But what do I do when I'm not working? Well, in my spare time I like to do things that are more tactile than my "work." I like taking pictures of everything around me, that it seems to me be beautifull. I also love to cook (no, not mac and cheese). Movies? Yes, but only if I have an opportunity to watch a clever work of a talented editor. Reading a good book in the park on a sunny Sunday afternoon? You bet. Hanging out with friends? Never miss a good get-together.
